Video Inspections
You shouldn’t have to guess what’s wrong with a pipe you can’t see. A sewer camera inspection sends a high-resolution camera down your line so we can look at the actual condition of the pipe — roots, cracks, bellies, blockages, or nothing at all. Hansen Family Air Conditioning and Plumbing is a family-owned team based in Mesa serving the entire Greater Phoenix area, and we’re open 7 days a week. You see the footage we see, and you decide what happens next.
We’re open 7 days a week!
A camera inspection replaces guesswork with a picture. Without one, diagnosing a sewer problem means inferring from symptoms — and inference is how homeowners end up paying to dig in the wrong place. We feed a waterproof camera through a cleanout and follow the line, watching the interior of the pipe in real time.
When we find something, we can pinpoint its location and depth from the surface. That means if a repair is needed, it happens where the problem actually is, not across your whole yard.
What a Camera Inspection Finds
- Root intrusion — roots seeking water get into joints and cracks, then grow until they choke the line. The most common serious sewer problem in the Valley.
- Bellies and low spots — sections that have settled and now hold standing water and waste. Our shifting soils cause these.
- Cracks, offsets, and separations — often from ground movement or aging pipe material.
- Grease and scale buildup — narrowing the line until it clogs.
- Collapsed sections — the difference between a cleaning and a replacement.
- Foreign objects — wipes, toys, and construction debris left behind by earlier work.
- Pipe material and age — cast iron, clay, Orangeburg, ABS, or PVC, which tells you what to expect going forward.
When You Should Get One
- Before buying a home. A sewer line is one of the most expensive systems in a house and it is not covered in a standard home inspection. This is the single best time to spend a little to avoid a lot.
- Recurring clogs in the same line. If a drain backs up more than once, the cause is structural, not a one-off.
- Multiple fixtures backing up at once. That points to the main line, not a single trap.
- Gurgling toilets or slow drains throughout the house.
- Before major work. Confirming the line’s condition before hydrojetting or a repair prevents nasty surprises.
- Older homes. Cast iron and clay lines common in central Mesa, Tempe, and older Phoenix neighborhoods have a finite lifespan.
If a camera inspection shows a healthy line, that’s a real result too — it tells you the problem is elsewhere and saves you from an unnecessary repair.

Camera Inspection FAQs
How does a sewer camera inspection work?
We feed a flexible, waterproof, high-resolution camera into your line through an accessible cleanout and guide it through the pipe while watching a live monitor. A transmitter in the camera head lets us mark the exact location and depth of anything we find from above ground, so a repair can be targeted precisely instead of exploratory.
Do I get to see the video?
Yes. We show you what we see and can provide the footage so you have a record of your line’s condition. That matters most during a home purchase, when you may need to share findings with a seller or agent, and it means you are not taking anyone’s word for what is down there.
How long does an inspection take?
Most inspections take under an hour, depending on the length of the line and how accessible your cleanout is. If the line is completely blocked, we may need to clear enough of the obstruction to get the camera through, which adds time.
Should I get one before buying a home?
Absolutely, and we’d encourage it. A sewer line is one of the most expensive systems in a home and it is not included in a standard home inspection. Finding root intrusion or a collapsed section before closing gives you real negotiating leverage — or lets you walk away from a problem that would have become yours.
What happens if you find a problem?
It depends on what we find. A line blocked by roots or grease often clears with hydrojetting. Cracks, offsets, or bellies may need a spot repair or a section replacement. A line at the end of its life may warrant full replacement. We’ll show you the footage, explain the options honestly, and give you a firm price before any work starts. Financing options are available — ask about our current specials when you book.

About Hansen Family Air Conditioning and Plumbing
Why Choose Us for Camera Inspections in Greater Phoenix
Hansen Family Air Conditioning and Plumbing is a small, family-owned business based in Mesa, and we’ve been inspecting and repairing sewer lines across the Valley since 2013. We run the camera so you can see the pipe for yourself — not so we can tell you what we found and hand you a bill.
If the line is fine, we’ll say so and you’ll pay for the inspection and nothing more. If it’s failing, we’ll show you exactly where and why. That transparency is the whole point of putting a camera down there in the first place.
