Hydro-Jetting
Recurring clogs, slow drains, and sewer backups usually come from buildup on the inside of the pipe, not a single blockage. Hydro-jetting scours roots, grease, and scale off the pipe walls and flushes them out of the line. Hansen Family Air Conditioning and Plumbing is a family-owned team based in Mesa serving the entire Greater Phoenix area, and we’re open 7 days a week. We scope the line first, so you see what’s in there before we jet it.
We’re open 7 days a week!
Hydro-jetting cleans the whole pipe, not just a hole through the clog. A drain snake punches through a blockage and gets water moving again, but the grease, scale, and roots lining the pipe walls stay put, and the clog comes back in a few weeks or months.
Hydro-jetting uses a specialized nozzle that fires pressurized water forward to break up the blockage and backward to scour the pipe walls as it moves down the line. The debris is flushed out, and the pipe is left close to its original diameter. Our company started out as a drain and sewer company, and we’ll tell you honestly whether your line needs jetting or whether a simple cleaning will do.
What Hydro-Jetting Clears
- Tree root intrusion — roots that have grown through joints in clay and cast iron lines.
- Grease, fats, and soap buildup — the most common cause of kitchen and main line clogs.
- Hard water scale — the mineral deposits Valley water leaves on pipe walls.
- Sludge and sediment — debris that settles in low spots and bellies.
- Wipes, paper, and foreign debris — anything lodged deep in the main line.
- Commercial grease lines — buildup in restaurant and café lines that needs regular maintenance.
Signs Your Line Needs Hydro-Jetting
- The same drain keeps clogging. If snaking only buys you a few weeks, the problem is buildup along the pipe, not a single clog.
- Multiple fixtures back up at once. That points to the main sewer line, not an individual drain.
- Gurgling toilets or slow drains. Air and water struggling past buildup make noise before they stop flowing.
- Sewage smells from floor drains, cleanouts, or the yard.
- Older homes. Cast iron and clay lines common in central Mesa, Tempe, and older Phoenix neighborhoods collect scale and invite roots.
- Your camera inspection found roots, grease, or scale. Jetting is usually the next step after a sewer camera inspection.
Our Hydro-Jetting Process
- Camera inspection first. Jetting a cracked or collapsed pipe can make things worse, so we look before we jet.
- A firm price before work starts. We show you the footage, explain what we found, and give you the price up front.
- Jet the line. We feed the jetting hose through an accessible cleanout and clean the line end to end.
- Camera check after. We scope the line again so you can see the result for yourself.
- A plan to keep it clear. For root-prone lines, we’ll recommend a maintenance schedule or a permanent sewer repair.

Hydro -etting FAQs
What is hydro-jetting, and is it safe for my pipes?
Hydro jetting is a drain and sewer cleaning method that uses pressurized water to scour the inside of the pipe. A specialized nozzle breaks through blockages and cleans buildup off the pipe walls, then the water flushes the debris out of the line. For pipes in sound condition, it’s safe, which is why we run a camera inspection first. If the line is cracked, offset, or partly collapsed, we’ll tell you and recommend a repair instead of jetting.
Jetting vs. snaking: which do I need?
Snaking works well for a single, simple clog close to the fixture. If you have recurring clogs, root intrusion, or heavy grease buildup in the main line, hydro jetting is the longer-lasting fix because it cleans the whole pipe instead of poking a hole through the blockage. We’ll tell you which one your line actually needs.
How long does hydro-jetting take?
Most residential jobs take a few hours, including the camera inspection before and after. Longer lines or heavy root intrusion can take more time.
Will hydro-jetting get rid of tree roots for good?
Jetting cuts out the roots that are in the pipe, but roots can grow back through the same joints over time. Root-prone lines and commercial kitchens often benefit from preventive jetting every 12 to 24 months. If roots keep coming back, we can show you the affected section on camera and talk through a permanent repair.
How much does hydro-jetting cost?
Our current special is $599 for one drain line per residence, valid through October 31, 2026. Commercial jobs and multiple lines are priced after we inspect the line, and you’ll get a firm price before any work starts. We also jet grease and sewer lines for small businesses like restaurants, cafés, and clinics.
