Central Mesa: Clay, Cast Iron, and Roots

Homes built between the 1950s and 1970s typically have clay or cast iron laterals running out to the main. Clay pipe joins in segments, and every joint is an opening a root can find. Cast iron corrodes from the inside until the opening narrows to a fraction of its original diameter. Decades of mature landscaping sitting directly over those lines makes root intrusion the most common serious problem we find here.

East Mesa: Newer Pipe, Different Failure

Newer PVC lines rarely fail on material. They fail on grade. Our soils expand when wet and contract when dry, and that movement creates bellies – low sections that hold standing water and waste until they clog. A camera tells you which of these you have in about twenty minutes.

What We Do About It

We scope the line first with a camera inspection and mark the exact location and depth of whatever we find. Roots and grease clear properly with hydrojetting; snaking bores a temporary channel and leaves the mass in place. Structural problems – cracks, offsets, collapsed sections – need repair, and we will show you the footage rather than asking you to take our word for it.
